Happy Birthday Breonna!

Today would have been Breonna Taylor’s 27th birthday. Unfortunately, her life was taken too soon at the hands of Louisville Metro Police Department on the early morning of March 13th. For those of you that don’t know, Breonna was murdered by the LMPD when they conducted an “no-knock” search warrant and fired 20 shots at her and her boyfriend in her residence. Breonna was young and full of life. She graduated from the University of Kentucky. She went on to become an Emergency Medical Technician at two local hospitals in her community. She was in a loving relationship with Kenneth Walker, who not only witnessed his girlfriend’s murder but was also arrested and charged with first degree assault and attempted murder of a police officer after he opened fire in fear of his life (charges were later dropped after Mr. Walker spent WEEKS in jail). Breonna was a young black woman just like me, and maybe even you too. She was innocent and we must demand justice for her wrongful death!

Here are ways you can call for #JusticeforBreonna and support the Taylor family:

It is calling for the arrest of the three officers involved in the murder of Ms. Taylor. All you have to do is put your name, city and state in the bracketed spots and send. Emails and BCCs are already entered for you. Literally takes 2 minutes (IF that)!

2. https://www.change.org/p/andy-beshear-justice-for-breonna-taylor- Sign this petition! It is calling for many actions!

• The Taylor must be paid in damages for the wrongful death of Breonna and the

negligence of the LMPD.

• Since no charges have been filed yet, we are demanding charges be filed against the officers involved. John Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove, and ANY other officer involved in the murder and cover-up of Breonna’s murder needs to be charged.

• The petition is calling for Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear to speak on behalf of Bronna. We also want a SPECIAL PROSECUTOR to investigate the LMPD; an in-house investigation is unacceptable as it has already showed that corruption is PRELEVANT in department.

• Being that the “no-knock” warrant the police conducted violates our constitutional rights to REASONABLE SEARCH AND SEIZURE, we are calling for an immediate special session by Congress to discuss the constitutionality of no-knock warrants.

4. Social Media Awareness – A protest in being staged on twitter for Friday, June 5th(Breonna’s Birthday) at 3pm EST. All you have to do is the following:

• Send this tweet: “I demand that John Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Detective Myles Cosgrove are charged and arrested for the murder of Breonna Taylor

• In a second tweet, write: “I demand that you appoint a special prosecutor to immediately investigate the LMPD.
