I'm finally showing you guys combat the devil; AKA shrinkage! Shrinkage is something that I’ve always dealt with. My curls shrink at least half their size when I do wash and go's, so this process is a LIFESAVER! Check out the video below as a tutorial to the following steps:
Step 1: Style your hair and let it air dry. Make sure you let your hair DRY! If you don’t, you’ll encounter more frizz and this will be counterproductive. Air drying is a better alternative for this technique because we'll already be using heat and we don't want any damage!
Step 2: Once your hair is dry, split your hair into workable sections and start the stretching process with your diffuser. Take each section and stretch it out while holding the diffuser to the length of your hair shaft.
I use my blow dryer on the high setting and I fluctuate between the cold shot and the heat settings, but you're more than welcome to tweek the blow dryer settings. Just remember, the key in this process is the heat. The heat helps stretch your curls while the diffuser helps the curls to keep their shape while experiencing less frizz. Fluctuating from the cool to heat setting will help lock in moisture and also help with less damage to your hair. The overall diffusing process takes about 15 to 20 minutes and my results are lengthy voluminous curls!
